The inverse-deformation approach to fracture

چکیده

We propose a one-dimensional, nonconvex elastic constitutive model with higher gradients that can predict spontaneous fracture at critical load via bifurcation analysis. It overcomes the problem of discontinuous deformations without additional field variables, such as damage or phase-field and priori specified surface energy. Our main tool is inverse deformation, which be extended to piecewise smooth mapping even when original deformation has discontinuities describing cracks opening. exploit this inverse-deformation formulation finite elasticity due Shield Carlson, including in The amenable rigorous global analysis presence unilateral constraint. Fracture under hard loading occurs on bifurcating solution branch applied stretch level, sudden drop zero stress. Fractured solutions are found have sharply defined energy arising from gradient effects.

Damage Assessment using an Inverse Fracture Mechanics approach

This paper studies the application of an inverse methodology for problem solving in fracture mechanics using the finite element analysis. The method was applied to both detection of subsurface cracks and the study of propagating cracks. The procedure for detection of subsurface cracks uses a first order optimization analysis coupled with a penalty function to solve for the unknown geometric par...

from linguistics to literature: a linguistic approach to the study of linguistic deviations in the turkish divan of shahriar

chapter i provides an overview of structural linguistics and touches upon the saussurean dichotomies with the final goal of exploring their relevance to the stylistic studies of literature. to provide evidence for the singificance of the study, chapter ii deals with the controversial issue of linguistics and literature, and presents opposing views which, at the same time, have been central to t...

non-corrective approach to pronunciation

the aim of this study has been to find answers for the following questions: 1. what is the effect of immediate correction on students pronunciation errors? 2. what would be the effect of teaching the more rgular patterns of english pronunciation? 3. is there any significant difference between the two methods of dealing with pronuciation errore, i. e., correction and the teaching of the regular ...

Fracture and Deformation

The high-velocity impact resistance of hot-pressed zirconum diboride with 30 volume percent silicon carbide was studied using a combined experimental and computational approach. Test specimens in the form of 2 mm thick polished disks were impacted with -0.8 mm diameter tungsten carbide spheres at velocities up to 320 d s . The intrinsic flexure strength of the specimens was -1000 MPa. The flexu...

a frame semantic approach to the study of translating cultural scripts in salingers franny and zooey

the frame semantic theory is a nascent approach in the area of translation studies which goes beyond the linguistic barriers and helps us to incorporate cognitive and cultural factors to the study of translation. based on rojos analytical model (2002b), which centered in the frames or knowledge structures activated in the text, the present research explores the various translation problems that...
